Here at Huddersfield we place a strong emphasis on working together with businesses, voluntary groups and other organisations, both in the local area, across the UK and internationally. The benefits are twofold, our students get more opportunities, and organisations get to tap into our academic knowledge and expertise. The University also plays an important role in the town of Huddersfield, inspiring local people, providing expertise to local businesses and boosting the local economy.
Our partnerships include:
The Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, first introduced in 1978 by University Professor Richard Steinitz, has become one of the most important new music festivals in the world. With the emphasis on innovation and pushing musical boundaries, the festival has welcomed to Huddersfield virtually all major living composers and key members of the music profession.
We work with 865 students at 10 schools and colleges on The Progression Module, a formal programme of study which gives Year 12 students the opportunity to investigate and research progression routes - primarily into Higher Education.
The University works together with Kirklees Council through the 14-19 Strategy Group, the Adult Learners' Strategy Group and the Studio School initiative. The University has similar connections in Oldham, where it is part of the Oldham Partnership, and in Barnsley.
The University of Huddersfield has a strong track record of working with companies across a variety of business sectors, including engineering, automotive, transport, chemical, biomedical, health, creative industries, digital and media.
These partnerships work in many different ways and we are keen to develop links with more businesses. We understand business needs and drivers and we believe that effective collaboration requires familiarity, trust and confidence. We can work with you to define your interests and identify opportunities for collaboration.
